A story that can happen anywhere, to any one.
He was only 20 when he met her, she was 19.
He was riding a bicycle to work that morning. She was standing at one side of the dirt road. He passed by, and told her "Hello." She smiled at him. He got off his bicycle and introduced himself to her. "My name is Rob, I am going to work."
My name is Alice, she told him, I am waiting for the bus to go to work too. I am working in one of the factories outside town. He told her that he was working for a friend of him, taking care of a farm. The bus approached. She told him, "Nice to meet you Rob, may I see you again?" Rob told her, "Sure, I will look for you.... tomorrow?"
She told him, "Tomorrow will be fine." I have to go now.
Rob saw Alice several times on his way to work. They became good friends. He asked her one day, if they could get together some time on their days off from work. She agreed.
They liked to go to the near lake, walk, look at some of the ducks who were waddling in the water. Sometimes they sat on an old bench and talk about them, and their plans for the future. They knew each other well by now. It had been 2 years since they met for the first time.
He proposed her to marry him and she agreed, she was in love too. It seemed that their friendship had grown, and they were ready to live together as a couple. They married in Summer. Their parents were there in their wedding. They looked so happy.
They rented a small house in the outskirts of the town. They could see the lake from there. They had a garden, and they planned to grow some chickens. He also told her, he wanted to have a dog. She agreed to the things he wanted. They continued to work full time, at least until the day.... she told him.... that she was pregnant.....
Alice stopped working. She gave birth to a beautiful boy. They named him after his dad..."Rob."
Rob continued to work in the farm, and yes, he brought some chickens to grow them in a wired cage. They liked gardening. The boy was growing up. Rob and Alice decided to take a short trip to visit his family who had moved to a near city. He was driving an old car that his friend had sold him long ago. Alice did not like driving, she was afraid of speed, but she told him, that it was ok, if they went only for two weeks.
Rob was driving that day. Alice was to his side, and his son, was on the back seat, playing with some toys. It started to rain, the road was slippery. Alice was nervous. She even told him to slow down as he was driving to fast.
The warning came late, the car did not respond to his control. He tried to evade another car that came close to him, but he could not. The two cars collide, one car sent the other to a deep trench, that was to the side of the road. Some cars had to stop suddenly, they crash one after the other, but Rob's car was sent to the ravine.
There were minutes of silence inside the demolished car. Alice woke up, she could move, but was bleeding, she had cuts on the side of the arm and her face. Rob, her husband did not respond. He was trapped against the steering wheel, he had died. Her son, was ok, but was bleeding too, he was alive. She could not believe what she was seeing. Rob, the love of her life was dead. She started to cry. She held Rob's hand... and tried to get out of the car.... she couldn't, the doors were locked.
She heard some ambulances coming down the road....
